There he researched training institutions and colleges in Africa for designation as “Centers Of Excellence.” He then worked his way up to hold several leadership positions at major international leather manufacturers, including President of Bob Kat Leather, and Sales Director at Travel Leather Inc. Sales double in less than three years under Richard’s leadership of the sales division at Travel Leather, Richard then decided to concentrate on his expertise of turnaround and crisis management, thus founding On Call Leadership.

Richard was a keynote speaker for the Small Business Association for his work in turnaround management and was a featured guest lecturer at Marion Court College where he discussed “How and Why to Write a Business Plan.” He is a past board member for the Peabody Leather Museum and guest speaker on the topic of the history of the leather industry in the North Shore. Initially, he worked at a major New England based bank as a commercial lender and developed a specialty providing asset-based loans to companies that didn’t qualify for traditional financing. Then, after six years, he established a financial advisory firm which focused on arranging both conventional and government sponsored loans – along with the financial forecasting required to support those efforts. After several years, Gerry purchased 50 percent interest in a client business that provided short-term loans to real estate developers that were not able to obtain bank financing. Eventually, along with a partner, he built a practice that expanded into the entire Eastern half of the US. In 2000, the company merged with the largest New England based CPA firm. In 2007 he returned to his roots and reestablished Pathway Advisors, a “boutique” consulting practice.
